What is Preventative Outreach?

CPAR provides outreach to high-risk areas in the community hoping to connect with individuals who may be seeking treatment or in need of resources, support and guidance towards recovery. While we are out in the high-risk areas outreaching, we are doing so with compassionate care.

We encourage and support all pathways towards recovery and offer resources and connections with treatment options; such as detox, Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) like Methadone, Suboxone or Vivitrol. Support is on-going throughout this process, and we are there to support people every step of the way. Our goal is to get people who want to be a part of a supportive recovery community connected!

How can we help remove barriers to treatment?

On a typical day, we have a line of people waiting to talk to us, share their stories, and tell us what kind of support they are looking for. We listen and take action to remove whatever barriers they may be facing on their journey toward health and recovery. For instance, many treatment facilities require a legal identification card to start services. This may be a significant barrier for someone who is experiencing homelessness and actively using substances.

With the help of the Worcester Police Department (WPD), CPAR can help find a “temporary solution.” In some cases, WPD will provide Criminal Justice Information Service Card that can be used during the referral process for some treatment providers as acceptable identification on a temporary basis.
